ALR024 – A Christian View of Defending Others

In this week's episode of Armed Lutheran Radio, we look at all the craziness of the previous week and discuss the new threat to liberty that has the NRA and the ACLU on the same side. Sgt. Bill talks about how to prepare for a major match. We look at Syncretism and misplaced blame in the wake of the Orlando massacre. And Pastor Bryan Wolfmueller, the co-host of Table Talk Radio, joins us again to talk about the defense of others and how we, as armed Christians should think about the subject.

Special Guest: Pr. Bryan Wolfmueller on Defending Others
Numerous examples of armed citizens intervening in violent crimes to save lives. Most of what we are taught comes from a legal perspective. How should we think about this as armed Christians? There are no hard and fast rules as to when we do intervene and when we do not. The existence of guns and weapons is a result of The Fall into sin. The wielding of a gun or the wielding of the sword by the state is a recognition that the world is not as it should be.

The Threat to Essential Liberty
This week the Brits voted for independence while our congressmen staged a sit in in opposition to our constitutional rights. Several pieces of gun control legislation were voted on and failed in the US senate this week. Fat-cat Democrat congressmen, who once marched for civil rights with Martin Luther King Jr are staging sit-ins to demand that the government encroach on civil rights. New York liberal Democrat, Charles Rangell, admitted in an interview that he doesn’t think citizens should have guns, but congressmen like him deserve them. When the NRA and the ACLU are on the same side AGAINST the democrats and the gun banners, you know something bad is going on.

Ballistic Minute with Sergeant Bill
This week, Sgt. Bill talks about preparing for major matches. He suggests preparing for a major match the same way you prepares for any other match. You should put the same amount of pressure and stress and use the same level of focus no matter what kind of match it is.

Syncretism and Misplaced Blame
One might wonder what is wrong with leaders of different faith traditions coming together together in prayer times of trouble? Politically correct, squishy Christians have to stop blaming themselves for “intolerance” and must boldly proclaim that sin is sin. We must love the sinner and hate the sin, and recognize who the real enemy is. It’s not the baker who refuses to bake a cake. It’s not the pizza parlor which refuses to cater a gay wedding. Its not the photographer who refuses to photograph gay weddings. It’s not the millions of Americans who recognize that grown men in women's bathrooms is a bad idea.

Prayer of the Week
O God, who has prepared for those that love You such good things as pass man's understanding, pour into our hearts such love toward You that we, loving You above all things, may obtain Your promises, which exceed all that we can desire; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord. Amen.
